new World

This card fits several challenges and seemed to take me ages to put together as I kept getting interrupted.

The Paper Players wanted something New, Sunday Stamps – Stay Neutral and Jugs was a theme Word Snowflakes. I’ve had the world die from Sissix for a long time but couldn’t use it a lot as it wouldn’t cut well on my Big Shot. On the Gemini it was a different story and it cut beautifully. I used one of the gray tones as close a match as possible to the Neutral colour challenge and adhered it another gray silvery piece and then onto black. With the white sentiment banner and the stamped sentiment I covered off 3 colours. Before gluing to the base I used a corner punch to round off the corners and punched small holes so I could add the snowflake brads at each corner. The banner was created on my computer as I didn’t have any sentiments that would work, so created my own, and didn’t have the right shaped banner die either. I fussy cut this out and popped it on top of the world. Added the winter sentiment because inside it says ‘It is snowing somewhere in the world right now’. I also added some iridescent gems to the center of the brads for a bit of bling. i’m really happy with how this one turned out.

  1. Thanks Jan. Have been trying to get this finished since yesterday and decided tonight it was now or never. Links all working so we will see what happens.
Hope all is well where you are. We are following the fires quite closely particularly now it has hit Victoria. We were concerned for a family member but fortunately he is still far from the problem. Can’t believe the scope of it all and it gives me nightmares. If I’m getting nightmares all the way over here, it has to be unimaginable for those directly affected. Keep thinking about you and keeping fingers crossed. Saying prayers daily too.

  2. Unique card! I like how you made the right sentiment on your computer and cut it to work the way you intended. Good news that your new machine cuts like a dream. I hear good things about the Gemini.

    1. I really like my Gemini as it is so easy to get good cuts. As well hubby bought me the bigger version so I don’t have to pre cut card stock to fit anymore. Sometimes creating ones own sentiment is the only way to make something work. Glad you like the card.

  3. Super card. I love how you’ve created your own sentiment and banner. I know what a bear that world is to cut – I cut 75 of them for a friend. It was next to impossible with my Cuttlebug, but cut like a dream (Ok still a bit of a nightmare for that many) on the Gemini Jr.

    1. Glad you like it Judy. Doing the sentiment and banner was the only way to get what I had in my head to work. Can’t imagine cutting 75 of these though. Its a lot of work even with a Gemini

  4. You are making us all so proud of what you can create and accomplish. Mind share is so precious and better spent on what to put on my personal banner and not how do I get this die to cut. This is a winner my friend.

    1. Glad you approve Bonnie. I’m pleased it worked out and that others like it. Liking it myself is the bonus.

    1. Thanks Gayle – I had fun trying to create the banner and sentiment as I’m using a new version of my graphic software package and it isn’t quite the same as my original version. Took a while to figure a few things out but would have taken even longer had I tried to do this with any existing stamps that I have. I did actually look at cutting a few up to create but the fonts are so different it wouldn’t have looked good.

    1. I’m so pleased you like it. It is a good challenge to work only with neutrals as most of us want to add a pop of colour. I had to restrain myself – lol.

  7. Thanks Angie – if you manage to get one you will be amazed at the cutting. It is quite different to doing it by hand and so easy. Glad you like the card.
