Here Comes the Bride

A week or so ago, I pulled out some of my really old foils just to see what was there. Because they are so old these particular sheets don’t work on transferring anymore and I was going to throw them away when I had an idea. I took some card stock and ran it through my zyron so it was sticky and then placed the foil on top. Some of it worked really well but a silver piece ended up looking very distressed. I was going to toss it but didn’t figuring that sometimes distressed can work for certain things. I’ve used some of it here on the silver hearts.

To make this card I used a left over panel that was on my desk and I added some additional cs to the back to pop it up a bit from the kraft card front. (Thanks Gayle for the idea of using kraft). I wrapped some elastic twine around it and tied a small bow. Then I took another small piece of kraft cs and stamped, using versamark, the sentiment (from GKD – Up and Away set), heat embossed this in gold and added the piece to some gold metallic sticky back paper gifted to me. After adding it to the card front I took a Memory Box homespun heart die and die cut several pieces in both silver and gold. I attached them as shown and added a few of the tiny ones as well. The background piece has silver in the pattern but it looks a bit different in the photo. I’m pleased with the results and think this card can be used for other occasions besides a wedding.

    1. I have Golda to thank for that background as it was part of a little kit she sent me as a prize, last year. I loved the cs it had in it but no more left so shall have to look for some similar type soon. Glad you like the card.

    1. You know me – use it if I can and because I’m aiming on being less of a perfectionist and more creative in what I do, I figured I might find a use for it. Thanks for the comment.

    1. Thanks Gayle – I still have a panel of that distressed silver left and am thinking of using it for something around a Xmas design. I kind of reminds me of trees. Glad you like this card – you were actually the one who inspired me as I loved yours and you used kraft cs. I forget to use mine sometimes.

    1. Thanks Gerry – I had fun with it and the distressed silver kind of goes with the background piece.

  2. Thanks Lisa – the distressed look seems to fit the rest so I’m glad I kept the piece instead of trashing it. Doing what I did with some of the foils means they get used although not in the way they were originally intended.

  3. This is a fantastic card, Johanna! I love that you didn’t throw your foil away and used it to create in a different way. This card can be used in so many different situations.

    1. Thanks my friend, one of the reasons I didn’t add a specific, to a wedding or anniversary sentiment, was so it could be used for a different occasion if need be.

  4. Thanks so much. I enjoyed playing with this challenge and that background piece had been on my desk waiting for just the right reason to use it. I liked it too much to just cover up with other things.
