Fall Fun

Just Us Girls #558 – Color Week & October … WHAT does it mean to you??

The colour challenge at JUGS and the October one at Double D gave me the chance to do another fall card today. Stamp set used for most of it came from Gina K Designs – Triple Play Holiday – that I purchased from stamp buddy Diana and first time inking since I got it. The raffia ribbon stamp was stamped first and I added the rest around it. This card kind of designed itself as I didn’t have a plan when I started. Added the sentiment above the ribbon. Then I stamped the pumpkins using some masking to get them to sit together and added the faces to them in black. Then I added the leaves at the top left corner and gave them a bit of sparkle using a copper pen. I was going to try spattering some black but knowing my technique isn’t very good decided against it and instead used some tiny stamps from a different set called Lettered and Lovely. I think I like the effect these small stamps give better than I would have the spattering. Mounted the panel onto some black and then onto the purple card front. Having just had tea (socially distant) with my neighbor who is still battling cancer and talking about my cards which she always enjoys, I’ve decided that this one is for her.

  1. The best kind of card — one that designs itself — and you create a great card. All of the elements work well. The background stamps remind me of falling leaves and things blowing in the fall winds. Great fall card.

  2. Lovely design. I had to look really close at the ribbon stamp because it looks very much like the twine Gina used to sell, wrapped several times. It really adds to the fall look. The pumpkins turned out really cute. I forgot about all the elements in this set. Thanks for inspiring me to dig it out to play.

    1. Thanks Judy – Do you remember when Melanie did some cards with these stamps during a release? I remembered that twine stamp and how she used it as an accent on a card. Always wanted to do that but never bought that release. Getting it from Diana was great.

    1. Using those small elements instead of spattering worked so much better than I expected. Glad you like this one.

  3. Great use of the colors from the challenge! And I agree, splattering is not always the easiest and I often ruined a card trying to add splatters! I love your idea! Someone will really enjoy getting this adorable card! Thanks so much for sharing with JUGS this week!

    1. I’m so pleased you like this one Angie. I had fun with how it evolved because when I started all I knew was the colours and using that twine stamp.

  4. I really, really like this one. Your “three little pumpkins sitting in a row” are super cute. Thanks for the idea of using tiny stamps instead of splattering, my splattering never works out. You are such a thoughtful neighbor, she will love this card.

  6. I’ve never been a big fan of Halloween, but I agree that these pumkins are fun to look at and if I were to carve one, I would try to get it to look like one of them. Thanks for the comment.
