ornaments galore

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Galz challenge, this one using a stencil, a sentiment and an image.

I’m beginning to get into Christmas card mode lately and had pulled out several stencils relating to Christmas. The one used here is a part of a Kaiser Craft Set. I chose non traditional colours and sponged with Spun Sugar and Wilted Violet with the result you see in the photo. I also added some perfect pearl powder before it was fully dry so there is a faint shimmer to the background. I set it aside to dry and wondered what I would use as my image. Going through my stamps I found a Woodware set and used the garland, stamping it on a scrap piece. Once I had coloured it, using Prismacolor pencils I decided to fussy cut because otherwise it would have covered up too much of the background. Not an easy one to fussy cut but I succeeded without losing any of the fragile sections. I also added some silver pen to the stem of the leaves and hanging sections. After carefully adding some tiny bits of foam tape on the back I attached it to the panel. In addition, I went round the panel with a silver pen to give a thin border, then added it to the card front. Initially I wasn’t sure about a sentiment, until I found a curved stamp set by Spellbinders and using 2 of the stamps I got a curved sentiment at the bottom. I hadn’t planned on adding any embellishments but just prior to photographing I noticed an ink blot that I couldn’t remove and I knew the camera would pick this up. I added the bling to hide the mark and added a bit more at the bottom to balance the rest.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I liked the card, but after putting it aside for 24 hours, I found that I’m happy with it. It was fun to create and while the stencil set was out I did a couple more different pieces for using later. I look forward to seeing your take on the challenge in our gallery. Thanks for stopping by it is appreciated.

  1. Lovely! I like the stenciling and the cute garland. I fussy cut quite a bit but usually keep a small border. It is rare I get so close. You have more patience than I with those small pieces.
