Gilding flake poinsettia

Anything Goes With A Twist of Florals is the current challenge at CYHTP and I’d been wanting to use a new folder for a while. It seems this challenge was made just so I could. Having seen an embossed card that had only a portion that was gold I searched to find out how it was done. I found an explanation on Pinterest – https://ca.pinterest.com/pin/429108670765871901/ and realized that it was actually quite easy to do. This is my second try as I wasn’t happy with the original. I added adhesive strips diagonally across the card stock and proceeded to add gilding flakes across the adhesive. When I was satisfied it was enough I ran the piece through the 3D folder from Taylored Expressions called Poinsettia and Pine. The first card I did was nice but I think the sentiment I added spoiled it so I did a second one. This I like much better. The sentiment is from a small Crafters Companion set and I heat embossed it in gold. I added some tiny gold gems to the center poinsettia.

Here is the original version so you can see what I mean about the sentiment. It is still a sendable card, but in my opinion not good enough for a challenge entry. Sentiment on this one is from Kaiser Kraft.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your time and comments.

  1. Pretty cards! I have gilding flakes but have never really used them. They look good. I can see the angle of the second card greeting match a bit better than the first. Maybe that is why you had an issue.

    1. Thanks Deb. I am only able to get into the AYSI blog as of today. I may not have enough time to play, but we shall see.

  2. Wow this is so pretty with just a portion of the card gilded, but I can’t stop thinking how it would look with even more gilded. Beautiful card!

  3. Wonderful way to use guildng flakes, and other than a little messy they are so easy and fun to use! Your card is bashful! Thank you for joining us at Can You Handle the Pressure.
