The recipe at As You See It, had me stumped for a day or two. I’m not someone who makes tags, don’t know why, but I only do them once in a while. It required some thought and the first effort was terrible and certainly won’t be posted. Back to the drawing board and eventually, this card evolved.

Warm tones started with a cocoa card base, a corrugated red tone layer and then I added the rest. The music piece was stenciled a while back with a gold metallic paste, the copper layer was a leftover embossed piece and I added them as you see. My tag was cut using a set that my hubby bought me many moons ago, but I have no idea of the brand. I used one of the smaller ones and then I took a new die set from Scrapbook.com and cut the smallest tree from gold CS. I put the two pieces together using some metallic gold twine. I did go around the edges of the tag with a gold pen, did the sentiment the same way. Although you can’t see it, the tag has to and from stamped on it, which the tree covers. The sentiment is from Crafters Companion.

Challenge #334 – Using Spaghetti to Craft! I know this challenge seems confusing if all you have is the link and title but filling in the blank, explains it. My favourite item to craft with is: Gold. I use it often, although it did take me a while to figure out what I would say and do for this particular challenge. I thought about it quite a lot until the lightbulb went off in my head.

To do my strip, I used vellum and alcohol inks on a sponge. I added some Inka gold with my finger. The vellum curled a bit and I decided to use only a piece of it for my card and will use the leftover on another design. I cut it with a Kokorosa die that leaves a stitched edge. I used multi medium glue paste to add the strip to my card front. The gold heart is one I had saved but it was bigger so I used a smaller Hero Arts die and the resulting frame will be used later. There were a few small marks on my heart so I took the smallest die from the set and cut some tiny hearts which covered them up. Not perfectly but it looks okay to the naked eye. I can’t remember which set the sentiment came from as I had it in my bits and pieces tray.

We are close to Halloween, which I have to say is not my favourite night of the year, and Sue is challenging us to use at least 3 of the following colours: Purple, Orange, Black and Green. She will also be choosing the winners here at Cardz4galz. I have used all of the colours due to the black card front. First off I took a Taylored Expressions stencil set that makes plaid. Using Milled Lavender, Wilted Violet and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides I produced this plaid piece. Then I die cut the Oval (I can use the cut out on another card) I backed it with the dark orange which was heavy enough to lift the panel up slightly. In my stash of orange bits and pieces I came across the lighter orange piece which was already on foam and used as you see here. The word was die cut some time ago and was waiting for the right card so this was added at the bottom at an angle as it helped to cover up a small ink blotch. The martini glass was stamped (Joy Clair) in Versamark ink and then heat embossed silver. I fussy cut this and coloured the contents in purple and green for a potion look.

Using graphic design software I created the word Hocus Pocus so it would be curved, fussy cut it (very challenging to do) and then I cut some slits in the glass so I could push it underneath like a stir stick. Once this was done I added googly eyes and some gems inside the glass and decorated the base and stem with them too. This card was fun to do although the fussy cutting was a bit tedious. At least my hands allowed me to do that today – sometimes they don’t.

Occasionally a moodboard or challenge theme simply won’t leave me and the one at Inkspirational has been like this for me. I think it is about the colours, but as well, I had been thinking for a while of splitting a die cut into two colours. The moodboard clearly shows a flower that is two colours so this is my inspiration here.

I started with scrap piece of CS and using masking tape I divided it down the middle. I inked one side in Blueprint Sketch and the other in Mustard seed. When it was dry I used the daisy die from Memory box to cut my flowers being careful to position it along the middle of the two colours. I also cut some strips from the leftover piece and some foliage using dies from Dee’s Distinctively. The embossed piece was another leftover from a recent project. To add some gold to the flowers and foliage I took an embossing pen and inked where I wanted it to be. Then I heat embossed the gold. My embellishments are from my stash and are by Waffle Flower and my sentiment is from an incentive set by GKD.

My hope is that now I’ve done this second entry the moodboard will allow me to think of other things. Had fun making this and quite like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by and also for any comments you may leave me.

Well I wouldn’t call this one of my most inspired Christmas cards but it isn’t one of my worst either. The Inkspirational Challenge #326 – Mood Board had a lot of colour to choose from and I decided to use a few of them as my inspiration for this design. The penguin stamp set is a new one, purchased on sale recently, and is from Crafter’s Companion. Sentiment inside and out are from the same set. The trees in the background are from a StampinUp set and decorated with baubles from the same set. And the barely there snow flakes are done with Lost Shadow ink and a stamp from MFT. I fussy cute the penguin and added foam tape for dimension, after I had coloured him. I used Inktense pencils and Sakura gelly roll pens, for some sparkle and highlights. I also added some Nuvo Crystal drops to his beak and feet. I went around the main panel with a Spectrum Noir pen and then added it to a piece of gold CS to get the thin gold border.

I have been procrastinating on some office work recently, but really must get it done. As my design mojo is a little lacking, I think I will at least make a start on the paperwork today.

A while back, I spent some time using some saved strips of CS by adding them onto some thin paper in various combinations. This panel was a piece that I had done, but messed up some of the scoring so it didn’t get used. I always save things as usually I can find a way to rescue them.

Just Add Ink has a sketch challenge and while my card doesn’t follow the sketch exactly, I am still entering it. As you can see, I used one of the striped pieces behind the negative heart and the leftover piece was die cut with some Sizzix word dies to create the sentiment. They cover up the poor scored section perfectly. Original heart was cut with infinity dies.

A very simple card, which will go to my friend who is undergoing Chemo treatments at the moment. She is having a hard time with them so I try to send a card each week as it cheers her up.

My hope is that this is the last sympathy card for a while, but based on certain situations I’m aware of, I may still have to do one or two more. As it happens, I had started this background a few days ago but didn’t like it much, so went in a different direction for that project. I set this aside thinking it would eventually work for something. Does anyone else have this problem, when using the cover plate it ended up cutting through the card stock, so this piece had bits falling off? To fix it I added double sided tape on the back and this helped to hold it all together.

Being a cancer survivor and a survivor Dragon Boat team member I am now doing most of the cards for my team. The club has a person in charge of this and she really likes that my cards are different to what she can buy in the stores. Unfortunately we have lost a valued member of the team so this card is for her family. I cut my own ribbon and glued it to the background layer. The heart was a left over scrap in my box and I added the Spellbinder die cut leaves. The sentiment is from GKD. I added it all to the Pink card front and decided it was finished. I think adding embellishments would be a mistake.

The new challenge here at Cardz4galz, has been chosen by Caz who will also be choosing the winners. It is all about using circles. For my card I chose a patterned paper that I really like and die cut circles making sure a butterfly was showing in each one. I cut slightly larger circles from a gold CS and added the them behind the PP die cuts. Dies used are from HeroArts. For my background piece I used an unbranded EF called bubbles which I cut down slightly and then added more gold at the edges. I swiped some blueprint sketch ink over the raised sections. Once I had the circles placed and adhered I added the sentiment from an MFT set and some green gems for additional colour and impact.
