Orange isn’t a colour that I normally uses for my cards but this challenge made me want to try it out. I am pleased that I did and feel the results are not bad …

It actually fits two challenges and I also got two cards as I die cut the word several times, in both white and a lovely foil orange paper. I paper pieced the white letters into the negative of the orange piece and the orange letters into the negative of the white. I measured out how wide that piece was and placed my GKD stamps above and below it in my misti knowing that the sentiment part would cover up some of the stamped images. To do my stamping I used distress oxide ink in spiced marmalade and then I water coloured a little of the dried marigold in several places. It seemed a bit yellow so I added a small amount of rusty hinge to darken it. I added the white cs to the leftover foil piece to get a fine border edge and then adhered that to the card front.
Got to love twofers. Very creative and pleasing to the eye.

That is still my one of my favorite GKD stamps. It looks gorgeous in your orange and white. Great die cut piece too.

Glad you like it my friend. I too love this particular stamp – it lends itself to many things. The die is from a Concord and 9th turnabout kit. I’ve used it quite a bit since I purchased it.

Ha! “Not bad”? The results are lovely. Orange is not a favorite color of mine, either, but it’s the favorite color of a good friend of mine, so I’ve been using it more in the past few years.

It is funny how we perceive colours at times. I don’t mind orange in general but for card making it isn’t my go to colour. This challenge made me put my thinking cap on to see what I could come up with using it.

Glad you like it. I try to use up a lot of my scraps and using the negative is a great way of not wasting something.

Thanks Jan. Considering that orange isn’t usually a colour choice for me, I’m glad that this idea worked.
