My step niece has just had her third child, this time a little girl so I needed a baby card for her. Paper Players has a sketch challenge happening so I used the sketch for the inspiration …

I didn’t want this to be too girly so used a paper pack with mainly these colours inside. Adhered the first piece to white GKD cs. Then I added several strips of silver washi tape on the front. I cut the plaid strips about 1/4″ thick and adhered them on top of the silver, creating a striped look. Using a scrap piece of metallic cs cut out a square and then another one with a stitched border in white. Adhered these together then added to card front. With another small piece of pp I cut out the stork and popped it up on top of the squares with the little sack under the beak. Stamped baby girl using a set from Simon Says and cut out the large word with a die I got in a closing out sale a long time ago. I used some distress inks to colour this piece in the right tone of yellow before gluing it on an angle. I’m pleased with the end result and hope you like it too.
What a wonderful welcome to the new girl.

Aww! What a sweet card for welcoming the new baby! I love the papers you selected. The silver washi and the metallic cardstock add such a nice, subtle sheen. Thank you so much for playing in my sketch challenge this week at The Paper Players!

Thanks so much. I had fun with the challenge and it is the first time I’ve used a paper pack this way. I mean – I use the paper but generally not several on the same card. As well I don’t follow sketches very often either. Challenges are great because they force thinking outside the box.

This is a great card! I love that the colors work for both genders and aren’t to babyish, but still work for baby. I love how you made your stripes!

What a sweet card. I like the background paper. The plaid over the silver washi is very striking.

Glad you like it my friend. I had fun making it and the plaid over the silver was just something that popped into my head so I could separate the busy background from the plaid paper.
