The colours chosen for this weeks As you see it challenge were so pretty I couldn’t resist trying to make a card using them.

Challenge #3 – Christmas
As well I decided to try to make the card fit the Perfectly CAS use one third site. These days I am trying more CAS cards so I get better at making them. Using my new Hero Arts stamp kit received during the week, I chose the stocking stamp and stamped it in a line down the side of the card. I also used the sentiment from the same set as it seemed to fit using a stocking.
Matching the colours wasn’t so easy, and initially I tried with distress oxides but couldn’t get the depth of colour I wanted. Then I decided to go over them with my shimmer water colours and that worked perfectly. The colours now pop beautifully and I was happy. I felt the card still needed something and I had the rickrack braid on my desk so decided to use it. It is a slightly darker green but has a glitter to it and to me it was the perfect addition.

What a delightful display. The stockings hung and the rick rack match the sentiment. Finding that just right color with mixing is so rewarding. Congrats.

Glad you like it Jan. I think the one third challenge is an Aussie based one. Would be fun to have that badge to display, but when I see some of the entries I see some very talented card makers and think they deserve a win.

Thanks Judy. It took a while to get the colours to pop and on a CAS card the colour is everything if the design is small.

A card worthy of the two challenges. Such a beauty! I really love the stockings and the third design for the CAS challenge. I popped over there and liked their description of CAS dividing into thirds. Awesome cards.

As I mentioned initially I wasn’t happy with the depth of colour but using the shimmer water colours over the distress inks worked perfectly. Glad you like it.

Thanks so much. It almost didn’t make it to the challenge. I guess I was a bit tired that day because I uploaded to my blog added the links needed for the challenges but completely forgot to actually add it to the challenge itself. Only realized yesterday that I had half done the process. Thank goodness I didn’t miss it entirely.

Your card is a great example of good CAS design. Your colourful stockings make a great border pattern and I love the addition of the rick rack edging too. Thanks for playing along with us over at As You See It this week!

I’m pleased you think it a good example of CAS as it isn’t my go to way of creating. Trying to do more and get better at it. Thanks so much for the encouragement.

You literally just made my day! Thanks so much for this wonderful comment. As to the spacing – I am exceptionally lucky in that I see space in my mind very clearly and can measure something without a ruler sometimes. As long as it is in inches I can see it.

Cute stockings. I love how you oriented them vertically along the left side of your card. The rickrack seems to “ground” the stockings. I love it when the right embellishment just “pops” up! Thanks for joining us at Perfectly CAS.
