Winter White

I really didn’t intend to make another Christmas card but I came across this particular challenge and simply had to enter it.

Challenge #134

Funnily enough I actually had the snowglobe die on my desk because I thought I might use it these past few weeks and then didn’t. It is called Winter Fun and is by Precious Marieke. I decided to make it into a shaped card and played around until I got a good cut with top fold. Using the inner circle die that comes with it I also cut another piece which I had dry embossed with a Sissix Snowfall Speckles folder. Then I die cut the houses using a Cottage Cutz die. It was a little too long so I snipped off the last house and snowman. I added tiny pieces of foam to the back of the houses and adhered them to the card front. I also added the tiny snowman to the middle of the circle as he was too cute to waste. Using a sentiment die for which I cannot find the name but think is from Sissix, I die cut the words twice. Once in plain white and then again in a Lawn Fawn cs called Pixie Dust. I added the two together to the card front. It still needed something so I used a small amount of a HeroArts glitter lacquer on the roofs of the houses. The glitter doesn’t photograph but it sure adds something special to the look. My hubby was impressed – lol.

  2. Occasionally I get an idea that works from start to finish and turns out to be something I love myself. This is one of those creations. I’m glad you like it. I have another one cut on my desk that I didn’t use because I couldn’t match the whites properly. Am going to do something with it today so the base isn’t wasted but have to use the same cs so that the whites don’t clash. Who would have thought that whites would clash?

    1. Thanks Lisa – I also managed to use the other piece this morning. Instead of worrying about the lack of matching the whites I decided to use the sparkly white instead. It worked out well and I’m happy. I like white on white cards as they always seem so elegant to me.

  8. Thanks so much Judy – I had a lot of fun making this one and it came together quite easily too. Also managed to use the initial cut out for another similar but different one. Always good to use it all.

  10. It turned out to be quite pretty in the end although at first I wasn’t sure it was going to work. I had the idea but found the execution of cutting the card stock when folded a bit challenging. The little houses die I’ve used a lot and often snip it into pieces so it will fit where I want it.

    1. Sometimes, if folding and cutting doesn’t work quite right, I’ve cut 2 of the shapes that I want, then put a folded piece of card stock to act as a hinge where it doesn’t show on the outside, but leaves enough room inside. You did a great job on yours.
