As you see it challenge is asking us to fill in the blanks for what brings us joy at this time of year. If I were to write down everything relating to this topic it would probably be a book so I picked just one thing out of a long list.

Artsy Stamper
Challenge #44 – Wrap It Up
My card is created around memories relating to my tree and the 2 cats we shared life with at the time. Firstly I call my tree a memory tree as everything on it is about a memory of either making the ornament or a vacation. Our tradition is to buy one holiday ornament from each vacation. Some of those ornaments are real treasures and as such get hung out of reach of any pet we have. That said anyone who is sharing or has shared life with a cat knows how difficult it is to prevent them access to the tree. We solved it by having a few somewhat tacky items which we hung low and if they decided to pull one off and play it didn’t matter much. I always made sure they would come off easily thereby preventing the tree from possibly falling. Fortunately ours never once tried climbing our tree.
Using a theme from another card made this past week I used my set Crazy Dogs and Cats stamps/dies and I built a tree out of fish bone die cuts. I die cut this piece using Spellbinders Distressed edges and I added a touch of gold to the edges. Added a ribbon bow at the bottom and a star at the top. Did the same thing to the sentiment. Once I had stamped the two cats I coloured them with Prisma pencils and die cut them. Added both at the bottom of card with one playing with a leftover fish bone die cut. I also added googly eyes to both cats. In addition I’ve added this card to the challenge at Artsy Stamper and Double Trouble blogs this week.
Thanks for sharing your memory tree of treasured memories. This card is just adorable. The fish bones are perfect ornaments for those crazy cats. We found more than one ball ornament batted around our house by the cat.

Thanks Gayle – Like I mentioned in my post I could write a book on some of our memories around Christmas. I love getting real mail instead of the usual junk or bills too.

Thanks Lisa. Glad you like the card but I agree sometimes the story behind something is the best.

Very personalised and very clever. As a non-cat owner, your efforts to keep the cat away from the tree seem ingenious and not something I’d have thought of having to do. The fishbone tree is a cutie. Thanks for playing along with us again at As You See It Challenge.

The fishbone tree is awesome. Love the story of the memory tree. The googly eyes on the cats really make them look like they’re up to some real mischief.

Glad you like it Judy. I think those cats are truly crazy and I always have fun when I use them on a card. I have the birds as well and for some reason this year completely forgot I had all these stamps until just this past week. The other night I couldn’t sleep for thinking about different ways of making cards using them.

Your card design is as clever as it is funny! As an owner of two cats myself, I know what it takes to outsmart a cat! Your’s seems like a good solution. Our two are getting up there in age, so all they do now is sleep under the tree, but my daughter has a new kitten, and every morning she has to scour the house for downed ornaments (up to 20 a night) to redecorate the tree on a daily basis!

Oh how I remember the days of having a young cat around. And in my case presents were often brought in from outside as our cats always were inside/outside pets. Can’t have them anymore as my hubby’s asthma has worsened so when the last one died we decided that was it. Not sure if you are aware, but cats remember lessons particularly if it is one that is startling. Your daughter may need to find a way to startle the cat as she gets into the tree. It may solve part of her problem. Glad you like my creation and memory.

I love the memories you shared that go along with this. You know, you could have left us just thinking the fish bones were an ornament they had pulled off. 😉 Great card!

A sweet, crazy cat Christmas card! The fish bone tree is a super addition and I love that one of your cats has pulled one off and is playing with it! I know about cats and Christmas trees! Thank you for sharing your winter holiday card with us at the The Artsystamper Challenge.

Love the crazy cats…nice layout and memories of many ornaments that were swatted to the floors, me too put unbreakable ones down low. Don’t forget to share this with us at Double Trouble for “Wrap It Up” and using our optional Twist “Tie It Up” since we are partnering with ArtsyStamper it gives you more chances for our random draw. Hope to see you there.

Great card! We have shared our lives with many adored cats and dogs over the years so can relate to the big dogs swatting their tails and the cats climbing to the peak of the tree. Thank you for playing along with us at Double Trouble!

Thanks for the nice comment. Fortunately our cats never tried to climb the tree – I guess we were lucky. Dogs also mostly left it alone except for our current one who took a liking to a little polar bear ornament and chewed it up. It was a cheap one with a cord hanger so no problem thankfully.
