A close friend made me a jigsaw stencil and I tried to use it to make a heart. This was some time ago and I wasn’t sure I liked the result but hung onto it to see if I might use it somehow. At the moment I’m making a few cards for the local hospital to say thanks to some of the staff so took another look at it. Considering it fits the current challenge I decided to add to it and make a card. I framed it with a leftover negative piece and then added it to the purple card front. I did add a few more paint splatters first as well as 3 extra hearts. Stamped the sentiment from an Altenew set already on my desk added a few gems and its ready to go. Isn’t there some kind of symbolism for a purple heart? I can’t remember what it is.
All the added bits really bring this puzzle to life. So glad you found a way to use it.

I tried to use the stencil wet, over the inks as I’ve seen on tutorials but it didn’t work as well as I hoped. That said I prefer to find a use for the less successful attempts so I saved it and months later I made this.

Thanks Gayle. I was checking and I’ve made 44 cards this April. Quite a few are thank you cards so I shall be delivering a package to the local hospital to cheer up the troops a little bit.

Purple heart is for U.S. soldiers wounded or killed in the line of duty. This is a beautiful card. I really like the puzzle stencil. Those paint splatters are a beautiful touch.

Oh, I knew it stood for something, just couldn’t remember what. Thanks for telling me. Without our Bonnie there wouldn’t be a puzzle stencil. I have to remember not to say i want something because her generous heart goes ahead to create it.
