I’ve been saving this card for the right challenge and the tic-tac-toe is the perfect one to upload it to. It fits the middle line straight across in every way.
As some of you know I was on a kick recently of making this style of card using a SSS stamp and die set I had bought and loved. This is actually the very first one I made and part of it came about by that happy accident of thinking – What If… I used a white card base and a silver panel cut slightly smaller. The plan was to die cut the corner and put something behind it, but instead – the what if I tried – happened. I glued the smaller piece to the card base, placed the die in the position I wanted it and then ran it through the big shot with an embossing sandwich instead of cutting. Because it was quite thick the impression came out as you see in the photo and I even had it showing on the backside too. I loved it. I had already stamped, coloured and die cut the leaves as you see here using Distress Oxides very lightly in the different hues. After gluing this piece I stamped the sentiment, adhered it and added one pink pearl.
Lovely card! Always fun when trying new techniques give amazing results. I do love embossing with the die, rather than cutting, but it has been a while. Thanks for sharing and reminding me of techniques.

Thanks so much Lisa. When I saw how it looked I was pretty pleased with myself and it makes for a really nice sympathy card.

Thanks Gayle – I was quite surprised by how well the embossing worked as I often don’t have good success with die embossing. I think the thickness of the 2 layers of card stock made a huge difference.

Johanna, this is fantastic! I love that you found the perfect challenge for it, too. It’s really pretty having this very light, but different colors in small areas, too. You did a great job with the embossing and it’s wonderful that it shows up inside, too. You know, trying a new technique for a few days is great, but don’t forget to keep using it!

Thanks Golda. Glad you like it. I sort of go on a kick with odd things and do a few for a week or two and then stop for a while. But I do like how the embossing turned out and shall try other dies as I go along.

Thanks Judy – I knew if I waited a little time I would find a challenge it would work for which is why I didn’t post it right away. It is pure luck that it fits this tic-tac-toe challenge.
