Mr. Fix It

DRU Challenge #146 – It’s Dad’s Day

I’ve been saving this card for a masculine challenge having made it a few weeks ago for a friends birthday. He is a Mr. Fix It for sure and has just rebuilt the wall around his very large garden in Montreal. I saw the idea on Pinterest but now I can’t find the example to give her a shout out – Stupid me. It isn’t an exact CASE as the original was a gift card holder Tri-fold. Mine is just a basic card base with the rest added on. Dies used are from MFT. The folder is from Tim Holtz Sizzix and everything else was done by hand. Stamp used is from GKD Scripty Sayings. I embossed part of the card front and streaked Distress ink lightly over it. The pouch was made from musical pp I had and cut initially with a die and then I kind of squared it off a bit and rounded the bottom. Tools were cut with scrap silver card stock and then some kraft for the saw handle and some mirri card for the hammer head. The belt was a scrap left over and has a faint design in it so it looks a bit like snake skin in R.L. And the buckle was done using a die set that has shapes for putting ribbon through. I adapted the shape I cut to make it a buckle as none of the set actually fit the belt width. Either by Spellbinders or Sizzix but I can’t remember as I got through a garage sale. I hand made the loops for the tool pouch. Its in the mail and I hope he likes it when it arrives in Montreal.

  1. Love this card! My husband mentioned that everyone should have tools in their stamp room for men. Well, I didn’t purchase the tools when they were released again, but should have. Perfect!

  2. Thanks Lisa. I can cut you some tools if you like – it isn’t any trouble and can do enough of them for you to keep for a while. I’ve had this set for a long time and use it at least once per year. Glad you like the card. It took me forever to make.

  3. Thanks Gayle – It took a while to figure out the belt and loops but once I got it, things went well.

  4. I’m sure he’ll love it as it is a great card! Perfect for a fix-it guy and fun with all of the texture, too. I can definitely see the “snake skin” look to your belt and love how you created it using your genius imagination. Great work on a wonderful masculine card.

  5. Glad you like it. Hopefully the recipient will also like it. It is currently in the mail which is living up to its name of snail mail these days.
