My new Peek-a-Boo set from Hero Arts arrived the other day and I was dying to try them out. Figured the challenge at DRU was a good choice for incentive to play. I did check out a few ideas on Pinterest and with Jen McGuire before starting. I decided to create a small scene under my flap and have the sentiment on the front section.

First I stamped the leaves, using a rubber cube stamp by Stampendous in versamark, heat setting it in gold onto the sandy beach CS. Then I die cut the peek-a-boo portion and using some pencil marks and the opening as a guide I figured out where to stamp the scene onto the white card front. After lightly sponging some tumbled glass ink to create the background I then took some tiny stamps from a GKD set called Holiday Frame and stamped the snowflakes at the top in white then heat embossed in white too. I stamped the snowman with amalgam ink and coloured with Inktense pencils and stamped the tree with evergreen bough. Added a tiny hand drawn gold star to top of tree and added some glitter to the snowflakes to make them more visible. Can’t make them show up properly on the photo unfortunately. I also added sparkle to the snowman and the tree. Using a tip from JM I added a tiny circle with the word lift hand written on it.
The front flap was a bit bland looking so after I heat embossed the sentiment I added some extra snowflakes in gold at the bottom and some bling around the rest. I’m not totally happy with the result, but it isn’t bad enough to have to do again. For a first try it isn’t terrible and we learn from our mistakes right.
Cute card. Love the peek-a-boo idea. The tiny stamps from Holiday Frame are the perfect size.

Thanks. There are stamps that match the peek-a-boo dies but I figured I could make do with what I have for now.

Your peek-a-boo snow scene is so pretty, and I love all that sparkle and shine! Your gold on kraft background panel is gorgeous! The front of your flap coordinates nicely with the embossed background; great idea to include the “lift” flap.

Glad you like this – I love your panels so much and originally was thinking of doing a few of my own. In the end got lazy and did the embossing, although I’m still thinking about doing some messy inking.

What a fun peek a boo card. Your background and decorated flap turned out beautifully with all of that shine for your sweet snowman scene. Loving this one.

Thanks Gayle. I had fun making it and having the dies makes it so much easier than trying to improvise with circle dies and scoring.

What a beautiful and fun card. I love it, especially the bling on the front flap. I can just imagine it with a winking Santa for a kids card.

That is a good idea Gerry. Must take a look and see what I can come up with when I do another one. Thanks!

Johanna, what a fun die! It will be so much fun for so many different types of cards. This is a sweet card. I bet you have tons of stamps that will work wonderfully. I can’t wait to see what you create.

There are lots of ideas teeming, but as you experience, not enough time to play with them all. Working on a particular Xmas card now, but this one is more complicated so I’m only doing a few for family and a couple of other special people. Mass producing this idea would take me until the middle of next year LOL

I totally understand that! I decided I wanted to do somethings special for Christmas cards this year and send them to everyone, so need to get those going as I have a whole lot to make.
