I had seen a lovely CAS card on a blog (I think Ellen Hutson) and I liked it so decided to create a version of my own. Using a shooting star stencil from Hero Arts, I picked out a few of the stars using a Sakura glitter pen. With some scrap strips of CS I added them as shown and stamped the greeting (Kaiser Mix & Match set) underneath. On a separate piece of CS I stamped the village image from Great Impressions using archival ink. I then coloured this using InkTense pencils and a bit of water. The image was a bit too big for my strips so I cut it into a curved shape and removed one of the houses. Second version shown below. I then popped this up onto the strips. I did add a bit of glitter to the village houses and falling snow.

Did this one much the same as the first but used different glitter pens for the stars and did a much better job of adding the strips. I like both cards.
They’re both lovely cards. I like the shooting star stencil.

Thanks – you should know that the shooting star stencil is quite an elaborate design if you use the entire thing. What I did was pick a few of the smaller stars and moved it around continuously until I filled in the area I wanted the stars.

Love the layout of your card. The shooting star stencil keeps the CAS concept but really adds to the card.

Thanks Gayle, can’t take all the credit for the design as it really is a CASE of something I’ve seen.

These are so pretty. I love the idea of using a gel pen to create your stenciled background and will need to remember that! Your scenes came out so pretty.

Thanks – I’m glad you like the idea. I did a test and realized it would work great, but wasn’t sure at first.

thanks – Stencil is from Hero Arts and I think it was shown as part of one of their kit add on. It goes back to when they did a huge Northern Lights background stamp. It is quite an elaborate design and I only used one or two of the stars.

What pretty CAS Christmas cards. Love that shooting star stencil and the clever way you sized the image. Great job!!

Thanks Gerry, I am a bit weird about doing stamp surgery so I’ve gotten better at cutting up the finished design instead of the stamp.

Johanna, you make me want to pull out my Inktense pencils and play. These are both great. I do like the way you did the house on the second one and it definitely shows your paper strips better, too.

Thanks – I had fun with these and I just purchased a few individual pencils to add to my small set. Gives me a bit more choice and shades. Forgot to get a soft pink one though so will get that another time.
