This card is made up from a few bits and pieces I had leftover from prior projects. Yesterday I had started to put the vase and black embossed piece together but didn’t finish it and this morning I saw the two challenges and decided to finish it for entering in to them. The black piece is embossed down the leftside but the photograph didn’t pick up much of the texture. The vase and flowers are, a new to me, stamp set by Penny Black that I had water coloured and set aside so the Nuvo Crystal Glaze could dry. I fussy cut the vase out before popping it up with foam onto the black layer. I added some leftover strips to ground the vase, as close to challenge colours as I could get, and then added the image. This in turn was added to the floral layer and then onto the card front following the sketch from Sunday Stamps. I die cut the circle and stamped the word which is from a Joy Clair set and then added some colour to the entire piece with a sponge. I’m not sure about any additional embellishments and can add them later if I change my mind.
Thanks for taking a look and I hope anyone dealing with a heat wave is able to stay cool somehow. We are into one here and the reports suggest that it is going to get very hot as the week progresses. Thankfully living where we do means we get a constant sea breeze and that helps to keep the house cool without air conditioning.
This is beautiful!! I don’t think it needs any additional embellishments, it’s beautiful as is.

Lovely card! You are on a roll today with the combining challenges. Our heat wave broke with rain today. We are finally back in the double digits and a comfortable number.

thanks and I’m glad your heat is now more bearable. Ours has just started and it is pretty hot. May go to the beach later so the dog can have a swim.

What a lovely card. The design stands on its own without embellishments. You’ve really nailed both challenges.

Great take on both challenges, Johanna, I agree with the others no other embellishments needed. I love the backgrounds chosen and the print of the sentiment. Stay cool and please don’t send more heat eastward!!!

Thanks my friend. Heat is increasing each day and hubby came back from cleaning the boat totally exhausted. I think he didn’t drink enough this morning.

Johanna, this is really pretty. I love the beautiful way the flowers are colored and that dark panel is perfect to draw it all together and give it that pretty texture. I love the way you did the sentiment, too.

Thanks Golda – sometimes a card comes together by accident and this one is like that. I had the black piece on my desk and laid the vase on it while it was drying. The result is what you see here.
