Sometimes a challenge sticks in my head and results in a 2nd entry. This weeks challenge at AAA is one of those times. In searching for a particular stamp, for another card, I came across an old set from CTMH that I’ve not used in a long time. I decided that one of these stamps would work for my 2nd card and I also used one of the sentiment stamps from the set too.
I stamped it with Versamark then heat embossed in gold. I cut some small sticky strips and laid them out so I could add paint in the openings and for this I used a Distress Oxide in Broken China. I also added a bit of colour to the center of the paisley image. When I removed the sticky strips I wasn’t totally pleased with how it looked so I took a ruler and a Sakura Gelly roll pen and added a line of sparkle down each stripe. I liked this much more but I can’t make up my mind whether I should have stamped the image with the tail end up rather than down as it is here. Too late now but one of you may have an opinion.
It is close to supper time for me. I made a spaghettis sauce the other day and hubby said he wanted homemade pasta. This has been an ongoing small bone of contention between us. Since we were in Tuscany, where we had a cooking session as part of our stay in a local villa, he has wanted homemade pasta. I told him there was no way I’m doing it at home, too time consuming, too messy and I can’t be bothered. Nevertheless he purchased all the equipment (not really needed by the way) and has bugged me to make pasta. I’ve resisted each time and even considered getting rid of the equipment. He announced this morning that he wants homemade pasta and he would make it himself. I said good luck and went off to my yoga class. He has basically spent most of the morning working on it and most of the afternoon rolling it out and cutting it, so we get homemade pasta. I didn’t do the work although from the state of the kitchen there will be some floor cleaning to do. I’ll let you know if I liked it in my next post. LOL.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great use of the colour scheme for the challenge – I think the gold paisley image looks great that way – it would look great either way in my opinion…. Homemade pasta – I’m with you on that one – I don’t have the patience. Looking forward to finding out if you liked it – and if it was worth it – maybe a future role for your hubby…..? xx

Thanks, sometimes a colour scheme won’t leave me and this is one of those times. As to the pasta – it was actually very good and way better than anything you can buy. It is now his job as I refuse to get involved. He did clean up pretty well too, but honestly it is a time consuming messy process in my opinion.

LOL….Derek was one determined man for his homemade pasta. This is a great color challenge and your card design is lovely. If the pasta is a hit this card should go to hubby.

Hubby is actually a quite good cook and he does a lot of baking when in the mood. Currently making banana bread. The pasta was pretty good, but I’m not getting involved in any part of it. Glad you like the card.

I can’t wait to hear if the homemade pasta was worth the effort of the cleanup on your part, or the work on your husband’s part! It’s one of those things I’ve wanted to try, but can’t imagine it being worth the effort.
Your card is great. I can see using that image either way, or even on its side. It’s one of those images that can be used in many ways.

Thanks for liking my card and I have to say the pasta was pretty good. He did most of the clean up, but I found that flour had slipped into cracks on the floor so I had to redo that. He is now in charge of doing anything like this – I’m simply not into that amount of work.

Pretty card! Hope the pasta was good (and that he will be the one to continue making it in the future!) I have a pasta machine and used it once. The biggest issue was “weeding” the pasta from the little holes when done. This was before I was in to making cards. Now, I’d probably just look at it as an intricate die and weed as I do on a regular basis – lol!

Thanks Lisa. He has a new job if he wants to eat pasta. I’ll make the sauces or filling if it is ravioli for example but I refuse to do anything more. His machine seemed to be easier than the one you describe, but he is having trouble putting it back together after clean up.

Beautiful card! I love it just as it is.
Love that your husband ended up doing the pasta. I hope it was good. Our teenage son and his best friend decided to treat us to dinner with homemade pasta one evening, very tasty but so much work afterwards cleaning the kitchen. I think there was flour everywhere. From then on I buy freshly made pasta at our local grocery store.
Thank you for sharing and palying along with us at AAA Cards, hope to see you in future challenges too, Take care, keep crafting and have fun!

Many thanks, and yes the pasta was good, but if he wants it again it is now his job. Clean up takes forever but at least he did that too.
