let your dreams …

My second post using a similar design for both masculine challenges. Actually this was my first attempt and my angled piece is on a different side to the previous post. In fact this card had to be corrected because I forgot to put a border piece underneath. To fix it I cut some thin strips and glued them carefully around the angles. I don’t have much in the way of boat stamps and this one from Hero Arts is technically a silhouette stamp. I stamped a mask first and cut it so that the hull and sails were separated. Then I stamped each section using the masks. The hull was stamped in black and the sails in blue and I went over one of the sails with a gel pen for more colour. Used a glitter pen in red for the flag and the stripe on the hull. I also used a wave stencil to add the water and the bird stamp is from Inspired by Stamping. Sentiment is Hero Arts and PP is from my stash, I think it is originally from CTMH. I’m quite pleased with both cards and they will be used quite soon as I have several masculine birthdays coming up.

Thanks for taking a look.

    1. Thanks Darlene. And just so you are aware, I did get your message regarding not being able to comment on a post and appreciate your letting me know. I have no idea why you had the trouble as no one else appears to have an issue and you are able to comment on other cards linked to my blog. Its a bit weird to say the least.

  1. That is so smart, Johanna! I love the bit of stencilling for the water and you’ve done a great job with the little boat – perfect for heading off on an adventure! Thanks for joining us at As You See It challenge

    1. Thanks so much. I try to use what I have but it has become clear that I need to buy a few stamps for masculine style cards that are not silhouettes.

    1. Many thanks Heather. It was fun to try a different technique and I don’t do much stenciling either so it was good to play with that too.

  4. Many thanks. I had fun using my stuff, which sometimes isn’t used as much as it should be.

  5. I love that layout, Johanna, and again, inspired choices for the PP. This one looks so peaceful and serene, but with sailing, all you need is for the wind to change and you have a first class adventure! Thanks for joining us for our 300th Challenge Celebration at As You See It.

  6. Beautiful! It’s great to see your experiments with this layout – the border is nice but it’s also a good design without. I do like the nautical stripes in soft blue but I think the stencilled waves are fabulous. Thanks for joining in with us again for our 300th challenge at AYSI. :-0

  7. Thanks a lot. That stencil is by Dina Wakley and I’ve had for quite a long time. Not sure if it is still available though.

  8. What a great way to combine your bits and pieces to create a fun masculine card Johanna! I love the nautical strips and the coloured sailboat works perfectly. The stencilled waves are a great detail and the border is a neat trick – it looks like it was by design! Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It this week for our 300th challenge!

  9. Honestly, I wouldn’t have thought of it either at least not in the past. I do find that the more cards I try the more inventive I become in trying to use my stamps to get the look I want. To keep on buying stuff isn’t the way to go sometimes.
