I almost forgot about this challenge and suddenly realized I’m down to the wire for entering. What to do, what to make? I decided to use both a positive and negative die cut and went from there. Card front obviously red, then a white layer that is the negative of the unbranded die I used. What a pain trying to get it out of the space. It hadn’t cut through fully and in the end I hand cut a few lines to get it separated. I adhered this layer onto the card front then using the same die I cut a second piece this time turning the die around a few times to make sure it cut cleanly. Whew, it worked. This positive aqua piece was attached over the negative portion as you see. Took a while for me to find the right sentiment and this one is an old one from CTMH. I fussy cut this and added it to the aqua die cut which is from MFT. The little red bow is an unbranded die set received as gift and gems are from Trinity Stamps. Still not totally happy with the sentiment, but it is all I had in the orientation I desired.
Thanks for stopping by, it is appreciated.

Lovely! Your die cuts look good. I get frustrated when they do not cut cleanly, so that makes my experience not so enjoyable. Glad you hung in there.

Thanks Lisa. For some reason my patience is at an all time low at the moment. I was ready to give up and throw it all away, which as you know isn’t what I would normally consider doing.

Your perseverance paid off Johanna and the card came out beautifully! I love the die you used and can completely commiserate with you about dies that don’t always cut through on the first run…grrrrrr! But anyway, your card is awesome and thanks so much for sharing it with us at The Color Hues Challenge! Marcia (DT)

Many thanks. Lately I’m struggling a bit in my craft room so when something doesn’t work properly I get really annoyed. I think perhaps I’m a more tired than usual.

Well worth your struggle with that die. The card turned out beautifully and a great way to meet the color challenge. Some dies can be so annoying when then do not cut properly especially when you run them through then flip the plates and run again.

Thanks Gayle. I’ve actually added a note on the die reminding me to rotate and flip to get a better cut.

A lovely use of the colours – very clean design. It’s annoying when the die doesn’t cut fully – I understand your frustration…. xx

Thanks. I don’t think there is a card crafter out there who doesn’t understand the frustration of a poorly cut die. Unlike Jennifer McGuire I never seem to be able to reinsert the piece properly so I can try again.

Me neither – O try but end up die cutting it again with a slightly different plate layer. xx

Lovely card- well worth all the effort with the die cuts! It’s just so frustrating when they don’t cut cleanly, isn’t it?
