My card uses some new stamps one of which is this Christmas Paper background which I heat embossed in gold. The little images are from a stamp set called Holiday Chill, the trees are tiny die cuts from an unbranded set and the tag is also new. Except for the tag all are from the YNS closing out sale. I coloured the images with pencils and added a snow hill to ground the penguin and trees. Red thread is from my stash and I heat embossed the tag edge using a Versamark pen.
I don’t know how others manage not to make a mess, but heat embossing when I do it means powder everywhere no matter how careful I am. I have a tray on my counter that is supposed to contain the powder, but somehow it still ends up everywhere else.
Thanks for stopping by, it is appreciated.

Adorable snowmen! It is the static that send the powder everywhere even with a tray. I waste quite a bit of powder sometimes.

Thanks Lisa – I find it annoying and sometimes avoid heat embossing because of it.

Thanks a lot. I like that background myself and think it will be useful at this time of year.

Adorable little pengins and card design. I usually have embossing powder all over the place too. I have a tray but find the copy paper folded in half works better for me.

Thanks, I have the paper in the tray, but it still seems to float everywhere and I get frustrated with it at times.

I do love a penguin and these are fab! I use a piece of copy paper with a crease on it to catch my embossing powder and usually tip it back into the pot before heating my project – tends to be less mess that way xx

It’s an adorably cute cute card. I don’t use my tray anymore but fold a piece of scrap computer paper in half then dump my powder on my image over the paper, the fold makes like a funnel, and put it back in the jar before heat embossing it, never had a mess that way, good luck!!

Johanna, this is adorable. I understand your embossing mess, as I deal with the same thing, as well as glitter EVERYWHERE any time I use it, too. It doesn’t matter how careful you are. Swiffer dust cloths help a bit, as does a floor I can sweep, but there’s still mess everywhere.

Thanks. I’m glad I’m not the only one with powder all over the place at times. The tray I use is a big one and holds the heat tool. Even when using a sheet of paper inside it seems to blow all over the counter. Like you I have a sweepable floor and a washable counter.
