Speed challenge

To start with, I gathered up the items I thought I would need including the Flower Field background stamp from MFT that I haven’t used in a long time. I used my larger platform for stamping and added several inks over the stamp, huffed on it to ensure it was still damp and then placed CS over the stamp and pressed down. Inks used were a little too light, but couldn’t fix it in the time limit. If there had been enough time I would have added more colour to the background flowers, but with the clock ticking it wasn’t possible. I cut the panel down to fit an A2 card front and added it. Then I stamped the bird directly over the top of the flowers. Stamped the sentiment on a separate piece and fussy cut to size. Prisma pencils were used to add come colour and definition to the bird. Like one of the DT members I don’t always plan my cards, but let them evolve so planning this one was a challenge all on its own. Add the clock and panic can set it if I let it. It was finished with 2 seconds to spare and my hands were shaking at the end.

I am aware that a speed challenge means that a card may be less than one’s usual standard so I’m not too disappointed with this one. It is clearly not one of my best efforts but I’ve made worse on occasion.

Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate it as I also appreciate any comments you may leave for me.

  1. This came our great! The subtle background colors make a beautiful backdrop for your focal image, and the lighter colors don’t show through the bird and flowers as much. No masking needed! I like the spotlight effect of just coloring the focal image and not the whole thing.

    1. Thanks Lisa. I never thought about it being similar to the spotlight effect so I really appreciate the comments.

  2. Your card creation process is so interesting to read about! Despite the time pressure, the Flower Field background stamp from MFT adds such a lovely touch to the design. Your ability to adapt and evolve with the card as you go along is impressive, and the final result is still charming despite the time constraints. Great job on pushing through the challenge!

    1. Thanks so much. We are our own worst critic so when others are positive about a creation it really helps.

    1. Thanks Judy. I think I did a better job of colouring without thinking about it than I do when I’m being careful. Its weird how our brains get in the way sometimes.

  4. Thanks Heather. I could lie about the timing, but I would be cheating myself even if others didn’t know. LOL.

  5. I always think it’s nice to be reminded that you can get something good even if you don’t lavish a lot of time on it, as you’ve shown. Isn’t it just amazing how much having the clock tick affects how you’re feeling?! It certainly turns cardmaking into an adrenalin sport! Thanks for being a good sort and joining in with our speed challenge at As You See It. Always a pleasure to have you join in. 🙂
