sparkly thinking of you

The latest challenge at As You See It is a simple sketch and I came up with this card. I did make it with someone in mind as one of my dragon boat team members has had a fall recently. Her injury is pretty serious and involves her eye and vision after she fell into blackberry bushes. I’m pretty sure she is very low in spirits and I thought a bright sparkly card may cheer her up a bit. I dry embossed a Darice folder on the white CS and added a smaller panel of sparkly blue. The circles were left over from previous projects and I just put them together before adding them to the other layers. Using another piece of the bright coloured circle I die cut the butterfly with new Scrapbook.com dies and then added the sparkly piece over the other. Using a body die from a different butterfly set I cut the body in black, resized it a little and added it on top and then onto the card front. The sentiment is a freebie received from Natasha Foote a while back. I feel like it needs something else, but I’m not sure. Let me know what your thoughts are if you can.

Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate it and I hope you are enjoying the last few hours of the weekend.

  1. So pretty Johanna and I love the pop of colour peeking out beneath your sparkly butterfly too. The glimmer paper is a great way to add texture and I hope it brings your friend a much needed pick-me-up. Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It!

    1. Thanks, The other paper is also the remains of an unsuccessful printing of a photo. Too pretty not to use another way.

  3. Your card is very easy on the eyes, Johanna, so your friend will be able to appreciate its beauty, even if her eyesight has been impaired a bit! (My heart goes out to her!) That white border with the holes really stands out and give some space for the iridescent paper inside to shine and for the butterfly to perch on! Thanks for using our sketch at As You See It!

  4. The sparkly blue is a great choice. It’s not at all overpowering and I like the textured layer underneath it too. Thanks for joining in with us again at As You See It.
