make it merry

Color Hues #99 Pink and Aqua is the current challenge and I chose to make this card. I started it this afternoon, but didn’t have time to finish it. As I can’t sleep at the moment, I decided to have a go at finishing and posting it.

Having seen something along the lines of this design, I CASE’d it and came up with this. The original was done in black and white, but I can’t attribute it to anyone as there is no description attached to the photo I saw. The card is 6×6″ and I reduced each layer by 1/4″ using an aqua blue and a very soft pink parchment. The pink layer was embossed using an SSS EF. I guessed the size of the strips and added the pink parchment on top after it was embossed.

The little snowman is from a GKD set and I coloured him with water colour pencils and used foam tape to pop him up. The lampposts are from YNS, my poinsettias are from Creative Expressions and the sentiment is from Spellbinders. Ribbon from my stash. I had intended to add the ribbon behind all the layers, but forgot so I had to get creative to add it behind the strips before they were glued in place. I have a weird die set I’ve had forever, and hardly ever used, to create a kind of buckle for the ribbon bow. I cut 2 and offset slightly so both colours show. I shall have to make an envelope or a box for this one, but it will be given to someone rather than mailed.

I’m quite happy with the end result, although as always, I can see ways to improve it if I choose to do another one. Thanks for spending time with me and I appreciate all comments that you may make.

    1. Thanks Nancy. I’m already working on something similar but it is a commissioned project and won’t be ready quite yet.
