Easter Chicks

Challenge #344 – Stacked Shapes is the latest challenge at As You See It. Not being in a creative frame of mind the last few days, meant that this challenge had me stumped for a while, even though it is a sketch. I was going through some dies and came across a set I haven’t used very much and I’m not 100% sure of the brand. Most likely it is an old Spellbinders or Sizzix as these were the ones I purchased most in the beginning.

I picked the next to last smallest and die cut three shapes using some scrap StampinUP DSP. From an old paper pad I chose the background piece and added it to the card front. Then I added the die cuts. In my die search I came across this Kokorosa set of chicks and decided to use these as my images. I coloured them with a mix of inks initially, but they were a bit pale so I went over them (after drying) with an alcohol pen which darkened them up a little. Gems are from my stash and the sentiment is from an old GKD set.

Thanks for spending time with me today. I appreciate you and your time. Hopefully you are all beginning to see signs of spring in your various locations. Right now we have heavy rain and it is quite cool outside, even our dog isn’t happy in this and we’ve all come home wet and chilled.

  1. Johanna your trio of chicks are just lovely and the background paper adds a lovely soft, almost vintage feel. I can see my card in yours so I’m hoping I was in part the inspiration to get your creative juices flowing this week! Thanks for playing along with us over at As You See It – we love to see your entries each time!

  3. Your trio of chicks are just perfect for an Easter card. The scallopy edges of the squares add interest and let the chicks show off. The background DSP is interesting without overpowering the card. Lovely! Thanks for sharing with us at As You See It.
