splish splash

It was a given that I would do a card for Color Hues, given that I love the colour Lilac, actually any shade of purple is hard for me to resist. Pairing it as they requested – Color Hues #108-Lilac and Aqua – just made it more fun. I’m also adding this card to CYHTP although I didn’t use the twist option.

My card is a CASE of this one with my own take on the design. Thanks for the inspiration. Using a very old Lawn Fawn die set, I cut the squares in the two colours, then did the larger background panel, and once I had stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, I die cut that too. I dry embossed the white background piece using a StampinUP folder called Starstruck and another called Softwaves for the two squares. The fun little image and sentiment come from another old set by SSS . The image was coloured with some metallic pencils and I used a blending pen to enhance the colours. Foam tape was used to pop the image up slightly. The tiny gems are from my stash.

Thanks for joining me today. I really appreciate your stopping by.

  1. Sweet, pretty card with the lilac and aqua colours. I like the scalloped edges which really sets the card off. The little chick splashing in the water is adorable and the bling or rather gems is a nice touch.

While having our dinner tonight we enjoyed watching the bluejays taking turns bathing in our high bird bath. A few years ago Cliff put a large post into the ground with a platform five feet up and placed his concrete birdbath he had made and this discourages cats and raccoons from tipping the original low plastic birdbath over. I do place a bowl of fresh water daily on the ground for the skunks, raccoons, even our neighbour’s three cats, especially since summertime here is very humid and hot. Happy Easter!!

  4. You used these colors brilliantly, Johanna! This birdie is adorable with her boots and umbrella and I love the added texture of the embossing! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Color Hues!
