Black, white and gold elegance

A little thinking was required before I figured out an idea for a design at the current As You See It challenge. Fortunately, during a brief shopping expedition today, I saw a metal sculpture that gave me the idea for this card, and I quite like how it turned out. Picture below. Just Add Ink, has a Christmas in July challenge on so I shall add this to both these challenges.

First I used a couple of EF designs, one with stars and the other Poinsettia and ran scraps of black, gold and white CS through using them. Then I took some circle dies and cut them into three larger circles with scalloped edges and several smaller ones.

Supplies used: Hero Arts infinity circles, Sizzix scalloped circle die, Scrapbook.com glitter paper, Trinity Stamps bauble shaped gems, GKD sentiment heat embossed in Gold. Folders are from StampinUP and Taylored Expressions.

as seen in a store.

When I stamped my sentiment, I hand cut it and used a black Copic pen around the edges so it would stand out a little.

Thanks for stopping by, you, your time and any comments you may leave are appreciated.

  1. These colours together are so elegant and the embossing on your baubles only enhances that. So glad you joined us at Just Add Ink’s Christmas in July challenge.

  2. I love it when I find inspiration in an unusual place and you’ve done a great job of re-interpreting the original into a really interesting Christmas card. The textures really make the card special. Thanks for sharing with us at As You See It. 🙂

  3. Fun and sparkly. I love how we can draw inspiration from so many places – just like the sculpture that you saw. I often do that too – sometimes it can be a dress someone is wearing or a shop window or something in nature. You captured the sculpture beautifully. Chantell Just Add Ink

  4. What a great idea to use for inspiration, Johanna, and I agree with everyone else, that your design outshines the sculpture! The glimmer paper is perfect for the background, and the black cardstock really grounds the rest of it! You nailed it! Thanks for cooking up our recipe at As You See It Challenges!
