The Beachcombing challenge at As You See It #372, lends itself to various interpretations.
I too live in beautiful British Columbia on Vancouver Island to be precise. Anything to do with water and beaches is big around here and in West coast Tofino people surf year round. I decided to go with the surfing idea and this card is the result.
It started with the scrap piece of PP that looks like water and then I used an unbranded die to cut the sand. I added a bit of colour to the sand using some blending and a stamp from Crafters Companion. Then I added the 2 pieces together and glued to the card front. I pulled out an older die set from Hero Arts and die cut the surf board and the lady surfer. Using alcohol pens and a Prisma pencil I added colour to both and popped them up with foam tape. The foiled sentiment is from Open Studio. I keep forgetting I have these and I’ve now deliberately left them on my table so they are front and center.
This card came together quite quickly and I’m happy with how it turned out. Thanks for spending time with me today, you are appreciated more than you realize.

Great beach and surf theme of your card.

I am in awe of your surfer Johanna – she looks so cool! The sea is lovely too, it looks like it’s sparkling in the sunshine and I love that you carried through the theme to that pretty diecut edge too. Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It!

Every beach needs a surfer! Even on our autumnal beach walk last weekend, there were brave souls out on the waves. Love the way you’ve built up the beach and water. The sunlight glistening on the water is a nice touch. Thanks for sharing this with us at As You See It.

What a cute little surfing scene you’ve created! I did skimboarding as a kid but never surfed! I love the ocean too, so this is right up my alley! Thanks for playing with our Beachcombing challenge this week at As You See It!

Thanks LeAnne. My hubby took me body surfing in Australia, (I was much younger) and I misjudged it badly. Came out of the water almost naked due to the amount of sand that got inside my bikini. Funny now, at the time not so much.

The beaches at Tofino are amazing! I remember walking out on MacKenzie Beach at sunset, and everyone on the beach at that time just stopped and watched the sun go down, in common awestruck wonder, before going on with what they were doing! I love your beach and your surfer alike. They bring back a lot of happy memories. Thanks for joining us at As You See It!
