Butterflies Galore

Just Us Girls #519 – Color Week

I started this card – got so far and realized I had gone about it a bit backwards. Nevertheless the end result is still okay and works. Initially I stenciled the side butterflies, using a stencil gifted by a loved stamp buddy. I used Distress Oxides in Dusty Concord, festive berries and Victorian Velvet to get a slight ombre look. Once this was done I decided that some dry embossing was required (should have done this first) so I used a folder by Darice as close to the other side of the stenciled part as possible. It still needed something so I used a couple of butterfly dies to add on as shown. I am not adding a sentiment as yet as I think this card will work for several things and will wait until the right occasion shows itself.

    1. Thanks Judy – this may get used sooner than I expected as we just heard that the husband of a friend was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. Very serious apparently. I may send it to her with a message of hope and pray that I won’t be needing a sympathy card instead.

  1. It’s actually pretty cool that you did the stenciling first, as you get a bit of the embossing in some of the stenciled butterflies. It wouldn’t be as smooth of color had you embossed first. Great job on getting the ombre effect with your stenciling.
Hopefully your friend’s husband is improving. Sympathy cards are necessary, but so not what we want to send.

  2. Glad you like it. I am going to try dry embossing over the top of a srenciled image to see what happens. Could be interesting based on what our lovely friend Bonnie does.
