Simplicity in Vellum

Just Add Ink #508…Just Add “F”

Mixed Media Challenge

With one of my stamping buddies being a guest designer for CAS Mix up I just had to participate with a creation to support her. And this card also works for the challenge at Just Add Ink with my F
being the word friend and/or foliage, so I’m linking it there as well.

Mixed media isn’t something I am good at, but I do like vellum so I decided on this design. My first attempt at putting the vellum and the die cut layer together didn’t go well, so I restamped it all and heat embossed carefully. I used the Be Kind stamp set and dies from SSS and a GKD die for the layer opening. Used 2 different EB powders one by Ranger and the other Cosmic Shimmer. And I clear embossed the sentiment after stamping it in Mowed Lawn ink. The embossed pieces of vellum were done using a technique from one of the links shown in the challenge. Using a scrap piece of green cs I glued it flat to the card front ensuring it would be hidden by layer panel. With another scrap of the same colour I stamped the leaf again, heat embossed and die cut it. Die cut the same leaf in the vellum. The vellum for the window was also heat embossed and I glued this flat to the back of the window and then added foam tape so it would pop up from card front. Once it was adhered I added the die cut leaves as shown. The dimension on this card is really nice. It is a bit different to what I had in mind but I am happy with the results nonetheless.

    1. Thanks Judy. I had fun using this technique although if one uses too much pressure it is really easy to break the vellum

  1. Thanks Gayle. I had fun with it although the first piece of vellum got ruined and my stamping wasn’t that good initially either.

  3. This is a beautiful design Johanna!! I LOVE the soft green backing in your circle aperture. It really shows off the gorgeous leaf design with vellum and white embossed leaves. And how beautiful to added coloured leaves over top. Lots of effort, but well worth it to end up with this gorgeous card! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
