Cheers

There seems to be a few challenges out there that are asking for green in some way. You would think I could come up with a design that would work for them all, but I must be tired as I couldn’t think of anything that would work. For now I’ve chosen to do this one as my entry into the Color Hues challenge which requires green and gold. If I come up with other ideas I can add another entry.

While out today, I discovered a new craft store that I hadn’t been aware of and as I needed a re-inker I went inside. Of course one item is never the result and I found this Lemon Twist stencil from Simple Stories. Lemon and limes are so similar that I made mine into lime slices to fit the challenge. I edged the panel with gold heat embossing and stamped the sentiments, from a Joy Clair set, in gold as well. I had some patterned green vellum so added that over the card front and then a strip from a very old pad that I’ve had forever. After which I added the focal panel. A few embellishments from my stash and it was complete. It turned out better than I expected and I think will make a nice masculine birthday card when I need one.

We’ve had almost 18″ of snow in some areas of our property and it is so heavy and packed that we can’t get my car out of the garage. In fact a neighbor came yesterday and dug a parking space at the top of the driveway and a section all the way down to the entrance using his tractor. He then kindly went with my hubby to the mailboxes, which is where hubby had to leave the van when it wouldn’t get up the hill. He dug it out and ensured my hubby could get up the hill so we at least have one vehicle functioning. Our neighbor may come back tomorrow to help us dig out the rest, but he didn’t have time to do it all yesterday as he went along the crescent and dug out other neighbors before going to work. Even though we purchased a small quad with a plow, the weight of this lot is too much for a small machine. More snow is predicted. I am so done with winter.

Thanks for stopping by. I am grateful for all of you.

  1. Awesome card and great find on a new craft store. Love the greens and your lime design. Ugh 18 inches of snow we barely had 2 inches and no thank you for any more.

    1. Thanks Gayle and I was pretty happy to locate this store yesterday. There is a Michaels in the area, but I’m not a fan and much prefer a proper craft store. Another storm appears to be heading our way. Hubby is trying out the Quad just now as we had rain all night and the snow is more slushy so possibly he can move some of it.

  2. Your green limes work perfectly for our green and gold challenge Johanna, and this card is definitely perfect for a masculine card (the hardest kind of card for me to make…kinda a flower girl!). Love your gold edging and the plaid vellum behind the limes too! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Color Hues Challenge and hope all that heavy snow goes away for you soon! (I’m ready for Spring too!) Marcia (DT)

  3. Thanks for adding this beautiful card to our gallery at Color Hues! The limes are a good idea, and I love the soft shades of green from the stencil. The plaid patterns are a great backdrop and I love the gold edge you’ve added.

  4. It has been quite the winter. We’ve gotten so much more rain than normal it’s wonderful. I can’t imagine the snow is fun, however.
Your card with the greens and gold is a perfect brightness to take away any gloom. Glad you found a new store, too.

    1. We’ve had more snow than usual and at weird times too. Doing a card at least keeps me feeling cheerful.
