Bubbles and Fish

PP491 – A Clean-and-Simple Challenge from Ann

I’ve needed some additional masculine cards this week so created a few ocean type cards. In the process another thought came to mind and this card is the result. Using the Koi die from PoppyStamps I embossed it using my Big Shot. Went over it with some gold ink using my finger and then a Sakura gold pen. Taking a circle stencil – gifted by a talented stamp buddy – and using different Distress Oxides I added the bubbles. Sentiment stamp is from Stamping Village. I quite like the result.

Banner Birthday

Inspired by …

I kind of went with the sketch initially, but then it morphed into what you see in the photo. Used some wood grain pp and added it to dark gray card front. Cut out various banners from scraps and added them on top. Stamped flowers with Distress Oxides using an incentive set from GKD called Fancy flowers. Fussy cut them and some leaves out. Added them as shown curling them up a bit here and there. Sentiment is from Stamping Village, a new set that just arrived and I added it to one of the banners after colouring it. Not my usual style of card but I like the end result. I may add a bit of sparkle to this before sending to someone, but too late for the photo now.

Say it with Flowers

May – Say it with Flowers

While creating my other post of a vase of flowers I also stamped some extra vases as I had this idea in my mind. I also had some scraps I wanted to use up. The images came from a GKD set called Vogue Vases 2, and I stamped the center flowers and then the leaves in versamark heat setting them in gold. I coloured the flowers using Inktense pencils and the vases were touched up with Sakura gelly roll pens. Sentiment was from another GKD set I had out. I like that I can use this card for any occasion.

Seahorses

DRU Challenge #144 – Seas the Day

I have 27 minutes to get this posted as my 2nd entry into this challenge at DiesRUs. My card is a CASE of something seen on Pinterest but I changed it up quite a lot. Used mostly scraps for this one. I first stamped the starfish and sand dollar and then fussy cut, inked the edges and added a bit of colour. I had the strip of blue left from yesterday so tore it at each end and attached it and the images as you see. I inked the edge of the linen look panel. Using a seahorse stamp from the same set as other images (GKD) I stamped it on the back of the coloured cs and fussy cut it out. Coloured piece is from a photo actually. The other seahorse is a small SSS dies that I have and I used a left over piece of background paper I created a while ago. Added them and hand drew gold lines on each side of the main panel.

Up to One Third

CAS Game #165

I wish I knew which company produced the stamp set used here. I remember buying it in Michaels but that was prior to my learning that keeping the brand was important. It may be by Inkadoo but I’m not sure. Suffice to say I haven’t used it often as it is mostly silhouette stamps and until this past year I hadn’t done much with that type of stamp. My imagination and ideas are getting better the longer I play at crafting.

Keeping to the theme of up to one third and adding the repeating image 3 times in different colours; I stamped as shown using Distress Oxides. I also used the small butterfly from the same set, another repeating image. The sentiment is 2 stamps from a SSS set that I love, called Showers and Flowers. There was a tiny smudge that I couldn’t get out so I added some bling to hide it. I like how colourful this is.

Tone on Tone

#122 Tone on Tone Background
Challenge #225 – Windows on the World

One card for two challenges hooray! I started with the tone on tone background using faded jeans ink and a large striped background stamp from GKD. Then to make it work for the sketch I cut a small panel from a stenciled background I had made a while ago for my hubby’s photography. I added that piece and then a small strip of tone on tone paper on the side. I had a piece of vellum sitting on my desk so I added that as well. This keeps it close to the sketch idea. By photocopying some playing cards in a reduced size I hand cut them and added them on top of the vellum. From the year of flowers GKD stamp set I inked the two stamps and added to the vellum as well.

Mini Hello

Just Us Girls #535 – Trend Week

I had been playing with backgrounds on water colour paper but as mentioned in a previous post they didn’t work quite the way as intended. To rescue the larger piece I added colour burst powders over everything and then added some shimmer with both white and gold perfect pearls. It wasn’t quite enough and the panel was very dark so I decided to use glue and gold embossing heat setting to glam it up a bit. Once it was right I cut the piece up into smaller sections and this is one of them. I had the stitched rectangle on my desk and thought using it as the background would look good so I put them together. Sentiment is from the Vogue Vases set. Added some mizuhiki cord behind it and glued to the white card front. This morning when I designed and put it together I hadn’t even looked at any challenges so was pleasantly surprised to see that it fits the one at JUGs this week.

Framed

Challenge #548 – Flowers

This is for the challenge at Little Red Wagon. First time I am trying one of their challenges. Got to hurry as it is almost ending. I had the two frames left over from another project and as I like putting frames together decided to do it again. This is actually a CASE from a card seen on Pinterest. I heat embossed the center leaves and then placed the frame around them. It is a little higher than I wanted but my measuring was obviously off. Stamped the flower onto the same gold as one of the frames and fussy cut it. It was a sketchy image from GKD Year of flowers set so I didn’t have to be too careful about cutting. I was curious to see if I could get colour onto it so used some gelly roll pens and liked the result. Added some bling to the center of the flower using some dots from a sticker set. Added the sentiment from the same stamp set.

Get Well

PP490 – A Color Challenge from Claire

Using an older, little used, stamp set called Vogue Vases from GKD and matching the Paper Player colours as closely as possible, I stamped the flower image onto the die cut stitched rectangle piece. Coloured using ink pads. I stamped the vase on a scrap piece and fussy cut. Popped it up over the flowers. Added some scrap strips to create a kind of shelf. I offset the panel over some left over gold cs and then glued to card front. Added some bling at the bottom and the angled sentiment at the top. I kept this as simple as possible and am happy with how it turned out. In daylight my green card front is very similar to the actual colour but looks lighter in the photograph.

More Lavender

Lavenders~Lilac~Purple Challenge

I was playing with some watercolour paper and Distress Oxides the other day, trying to follow a video tutorial. My effort didn’t really go as planned and certainly didn’t look anything like the tutorial, but it was with some purples. Once it was dry I wondered how I could use it but it still seemed to need more ink. I had a stamp set on my desk by GKD called Tiny Textures and I took the splash/splatter stamp and added some more ink to the initial piece. It filled in more of the area and I liked how it looked. While it was drying I stamped the lavender onto some scrap paper using Blueprint Sketch which actually dried more like the real flowers look. I fussy cut most of it out and glued into a small bouquet adding the ribbon to finish it. I added some lavender(ish) mirri card to the card front and glued the focal piece on top. Then I stamped the sentiment with another GKD set called Scripty Sayings cutting it as shown and adding some ink around the edges. I also brushed some perfect pearl powder over the inked panel for some shimmer and set it with a bit of water.
