Red, White and Blue

The Card Concept #135

Based on the definitions I would say this is a clean and layered card. I really struggled with this challenge as the photo image is so patriotic and I’m not American. After some thought and a couple of initial tries, I came up with this using a GKD stamp set called Mandala Maker and distress oxides. I stamped the design using the same stamp in the two colours and then choosing a smaller stamp did the same thing. I added the light blue strip of mirri card, die cut the banner and the hearts using up paper scraps, stamped the sentiment from another GKD set and played until I had the hearts positioned as shown. I would say that the colours and the hearts became the inspiration for this one.

  1. We are glad you were able to join with for this challenge even though you struggled with the colors. It turned out very well and for us in the US it feels patriotic ❤️ Thanks again for joining us at The Card Concept 👍🏻

    1. Took me a while to get the stamping right. Had to try it twice. Glad you like the little banner that too is a 2nd attempt, as I got the wrong orientation on the first one. You will likely see it appear on something else.

    1. Thanks. I get stuck sometimes when it is very American patriotism. Brain sort of says what can I do? Managed to redeem the other tries into something okay. Not great but okay. Will post soon.

  3. yes, after having it in my stamp drawer for the longest time and never using it, I’ve suddenly discovered it is a very useful set to own. I still like my peacock tail the best though. Glad you like this.

  4. Thanks. The English flag is also red white and blue, and I could be patriotic about Canada, England, and Holland, but no blue in either Canada or Holland. Kind of weird to have the choice of which country to be patriotic about although Canada is my first choice.

    1. I would agree it must be difficult to use another country’s patriotic color choices but your design using the colors do not reflect Americana.
