Seahorse Dreams

I had two seahorses left over from my little project the other day and so I decided to use them on this …

Using up the leftovers

The frame was an extra from a card I made earlier in the year and the circle was a tag from a gift bag that came off. I adhere the frame to the Turquoise sea card stock slightly offset and then popped up the circle on top. I die cut the bullrush reeds from a Cheapo die I recently purchased using up a scrap of paper. I had a shell already precut from my last project and I tucked it at the top to hide the small hole in the circle. Then I added the seahorses twisting their tails onto the stalks. Sentiment is from an Idea-ology book.

Butterfly Wishes

This past week I’ve made 3 items ready to post but didn’t have the opportunity to actually post them. Basically this one was just using up the foiled butterflies which I took off another card. I think they came from StampinUp but I’m not sure.

Pink & Gold

Thanks to Golda, I have some lovely PP that she sent as a small gift and this background is cut from that. I added the butterflies by popping them up in several places. Added the sentiment and also the bow. I pushed the ends of the ribbon in and out of the butterflies gluing it in place here and there. A very simple card but I think it is an effective one.

Baby Girl

My cousins daughter had a little girl recently so I needed to send a congratulations card to her. This is what I came up with …

Using some leftover GKD PP I added it to the card base. On a small piece of CS I created a centre panel using Die Cuts and a sentiment. I then adhered this to the main card. I just used up small scraps of left over PP for the diecuts. Set is by LIttle B and is called Baby. It’s a cute set and came with it’s own storage magnet.

This was made just after our return from a trip and before we left to go boating. Never got the chance to post it on my blog until today.

Kind Heart

I finally managed to get a background done using colour bursts that gives the idea of what I saw on screen during my Echocardiogram. What I tried to didn’t quite work but I still liked this result and came up with this card using it.

I added a small amount of perfect pearl powder on top to give some additional shine and somehow during the process of making the background some sparkles got into the card in spots. Doesn’t show here but it is interesting in R.L. I cut the piece down to 5″ by 3 & 3/4″ and added a gold border using a pen. Cut out the heart piece using a Simon Says die. I cut the outline several times and built it up so the solid hearts look inset. I left the larger one empty. In gluing the outline I made a mistake and added glue to the wrong side – what to do? Honestly my mind works in mysterious ways sometimes, as I had the brain wave of using white embossing powder over the glue and then heat set it. Looks great and no one would know that it was a mistake. Then I added the glue to the correct side and adhered it properly.

CAS set

This is the last set of cards I made for taking with me as a gift when I travel. I had a lot of fun getting these done and it was quite quick to create them too.

They are mostly from 2 different Penny Black stamp sets with the odd one or two additions from a Gina K. Designs set. I coloured them with Prisma colour pencils and used a bit of gold ink here and there too. I made the box to contain them out of some heavy glitter card stock and decorated a tag to add on top. Hope they don’t get squished in my suitcase – lol. I like them because they have a whimsical look and are fun and this friend has 7 grandchildren so thought they would be good for her.

Get Well Roses

Last upload for today is my water coloured roses. I really enjoyed playing with my metallic watercolour paint pots although one of the colours looks a bit yellow in this photograph. In reality it is a faint purple but to see it one needs to slant the card a little and I can’t do that in a photo.

I used a Gina K incentive stamp for this and some leftover strips from backgrounds I had made using colour burst powders. I really like the way it turned out although the photo doesn’t do it justice.

Daisy Basket

I had stamped a series of these baskets using a Kitchen Sink set and fussy cut them out. Left them on my desk for a while as I wasn’t sure what to use them for. Finally got around to using the bigger one for this card.

Everything else on this card is bits and pieces left over and stored as I don’t like to throw things away. The daisies were really old and were the last 3 out of the package. I glittered the centers just for fun. It turned out better than I expected. Will add a sentiment when I decide what to use it for.

Cheers for Colour

My last piece of colour burst playing became the focus for this card. I love these colours and how they pop. Added this to a set I made for a friend as I thought it would make a good masculine card if she wanted to use it.

Am entering it into a challenge just for fun although I won’t be around to see the results when it ends. I added a few swirls in gold and the oval gold sparkly piece behind the die cut word.

Hints of Gold

The last play background made using Colour Burst and a bit of gold perfect pearls. I sprinkled the different colours onto CS and added some of the gold here and there. Then I sprayed with water and watched the magic happen. It is such a fun thing to do as each time the effect is so different. I left it to dry and then hubby finally took his photo so I could use it. I decided to enter it into these two challenges.

I cut my panel down into 2 pieces and added this one to a gold washi sheet which I then adhered to the card front. Stamped the sentiment from Our Daily Bread designs and managed to smear the right edge. What to do … my solution was to add the tiny butterfly which then led to the larger 2nd one as it needed some balance. I coloured in one word with a fine gold pen.

Dreamy Daisies

Somehow I forgot to post this on the weekend but I had made it a few days ago continuing on my CAS kick. As it fits into a Paper Player CAS challenge I am entering it there. Using a Gina K. stamp set called Daisy Delight I stamped the daisy image using amalgam ink.

I then used my little metallic paint pots to colour in the flowers. I used a white ink first – let it dry and then added the faint violet to the center of the petals to give some definition. I added three different yellows to the middle of the flowers and some greens to the stems. It has subtle sheen to it and is very pretty in R.L. After adding the sentiment and some tiny pearls I mounted it to the black paper and then to the card base.
