Another die from my Divinity Designs Xmas gift is featured on this card. I cut it from Navy CS and using inks, added some colour, picking out a flower design as I did so. Originally I was trying to make one card fit several challenges but my brain simply wasn’t feeling creative and with constant interruptions I ended up with this as my final result. It fits the colour challenge and that is all. I was supposed to be packing up a file cabinet, but wasn’t in the mood for that either. I’m not unhappy with this card, but I don’t really like it either. Note to self, stop working if creativity isn’t flowing.
The poinsettia and leaves are from a GKD set that came with matching dies. The sentiment is from a Joy Clair set I’ve only had a short time. I heat embossed the edges before adding more colour. I like that this card can be used for any occasion.
This is a new challenge blog to me, but I like the idea of just using 2 colours so decided to give it a go. The gray CS looks blue in the photo but it is a nice gray in reality. The red is from scraps left over at Christmas. Using an old wooden block stamp from Hero Arts I stamped the words onto some white CS using Iced Spruce Distress Oxide. The ink wouldn’t dry so I decided to heat emboss it and by accident used silver instead of clear powder. Figured silver is still a type of gray so kept it, die cut the circle then glued it to the gray layer. Using a SSS heart die for the swirly hearts, I hand cut that into the pieces you see, I then glued them onto the circle. From a Joy Clair sentiment set I stamped the thank you and then cut it at one edge to make it fit the circle and glued it down. Added a couple of left over hearts at the other end. Glued the layers to the white card front and added the red bling underneath so a nice thank you card is completed. I do a bit of packing and then use my craft room as a way to rest my body before doing some more. Maybe I’ll get a few cards done this way before I have to pack everything up. Still not sure of a move date but we get full possession later this week. I suspect we’ll take some stuff over slowly and live between the new place and this one for a month or two unless this one sells really quick.
I have some new stamp sets from Joy Clair and decided to use the clock along with some scraps to make a get well card for a member of my hubby’s photo group. He has been ill with Covid and was hospitalized for several weeks, but we heard he is on the mend thankfully. After stamping and heat embossing the image I fussy cut it. The gold frame and striped paper were on my desk and had become stuck together so I decided they would be okay as the background for the clock. Then I stamped the sentiment from the same set and added a few gems. I quite like the result and hope others do too. Thanks for spending some time with me.
My Christmas gift from my hubby this year, was the latest Divinity Designs kit, and I just had to play with it right away. The frame used here is actually a piece left over after cutting out some PP for another card using the set. See following images. After dry embossing the white piece using a snowflake pattern, I laid the frame on top and added a bit of inking to denote some sky. I popped up the frame slightly by using some tiny pieces of foam tape around the edges. I also added some curved CS to look like snow banks at the bottom before adding the frame. Using the stamp set and my misti I stamped all the images and then hand coloured using pencils and some Sakura pens. I then die cut them out with the matching dies. I popped these up on top of the snow banks as you see in the picture. I used 3 of the sentiment stamps and stamped across the first 3 panels. There is glitter on all of it and the snowbanks show up more in R.L. than they do on the photo. I did think I might save these designs to add to my blog later this year, but decided not to wait. Now I have 3 cards ready for next Christmas so a good start to the year for me.
Front of the concertina fold cardConcertina fold inside
So the kit came with all the dies necessary to make a concertina fold card and this is what I came up with during my play. The card front uses the dies for Mandala making and I did mine as shown here. The mandala is either a 4 piece or 3 piece glued together, but on this one I used only the 3 pieces in different colours. I’ve since made some ornaments using all the pieces for gifting later on. I used a scrap piece of ribbon to make a bow for the top. The concertina part isn’t difficult but it is fiddly getting it to fit together properly and I find it a bit thick when folded so shall need to ensure a good size envelope and extra postage if I choose to mail it to someone when the time comes. I used the stamp set with the birds to add to the PP panels and I angled 2 sentiment strips on the first of the panels for the greeting. Any personal writing has to go on the back of this one, but the next one I make will have a place for me to write something personal on the inside. I’m quite pleased with the result and shall have fun making a few more. All the PP is from my Reminisce collection. I’m also thinking that perhaps I can just use the concertina piece on its own instead of adding it to the inside of a larger card. It will stand up on its own so it should work.
There is still more to the kit, but I haven’t played with it all as yet. I shall have fun coming up with some future designs for next Christmas I think. I did these in between sorting and packing for our upcoming move. We’ll see if I have more time to make a few more over the next few weeks before I have to pack up my craft room entirely.
In my previous post I mentioned I had another card almost ready and this is it. It works for both the new Double D challenge as well as a 2nd entry for the Paper Players. Using a small poinsettia stamp from a Hero Arts Christmas set I stamped randomly onto a piece of black CS using white ink. I then heat embossed this using white powder. After adding the black piece to a white layer I wrapped the silver washi tape around and then glued the layers to the silver card front. On a scrap piece of white CS using VersaMark I stamped the larger poinsettia image, from an older GKD set, and heat embossed in silver. Once done I fussy cut it and added foam tape to the back. Using a silver pen I coloured in the center stamens and with a Sakura gelly roll glitter pen added few streaks of glitter over the rest. It shines like crazy in reality but the photo doesn’t allow that to show up. I popped this piece up on top of the silver tape and then realized I had forgotten to do a sentiment. Initially I stamped one onto some white CS but didn’t like it when I tried placement so in the end I decided to use two small stamps from a LawnFawn set, stamped with VersaMark and then heat embossed in silver. I liked this much better. Unless I need some additional cards for this Christmas, I now have 2 already completed for 2021. My hubby thinks I should do a variation on this card in different colours for next year, Hmmm, food for thought.
For these 2 challenges I was able to make a card that fit both and it is rather nice when that happens. Global ask for winter/holiday and Paperplayers want silver, black and white. So here is one of my efforts. I may have another one later this week as I’ve gotten another one partially done. For this card I took a scrap piece of black CS and created a mask that would give me the tree shape. I taped a stencil over the opening and carefully sponged white ink through it. Then I heat embossed with additional white. I matted the black layer with some silver foil CS and then added these to the Silver card front. I also heat embossed the sentiment onto some black using my CTMH stamp, then added this piece to another bit of silver foil. I used a bit of the foil for the tree trunk and added some tiny silver stars onto the tree. I had the small silver holographic snowflakes so I scattered them around the tree for added sparkle. I had fun making this one and am very pleased with the result. The holographic snowflakes catch the light and change colour at times.
This is the last challenge of the year Thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com and hopefully my last card required for this year. Occasionally I’ve forgotten someone or receive an unexpected card that requires a little something in return, but the ones on my normal list are now finished. I can begin to clean up my craft room which is in a terrible mess at the moment. Can’t even see my desk properly anymore.
To begin this card I stamped various sentiments from 2 GKD sets randomly on some CS and then die cut it out into the circle. One of the stamps somehow got used upside down but I decided I could hide that mistake. without having to start over. I heat embossed all the sentiments and then added a few snowflakes and heat embossed those as well. After adding a foam circle on the back I glued it to the silver card front. Then I die cut the dove in the mirror CS and attached him as shown. A few small gems here and there, then the pretty bow to cover up my booboo and I am happy with this card. My neighbor who is 93 will love it and no doubt will phone me to say so and to say how sorry she is that she can’t reciprocate with a card this year.
I am down to making the last three Christmas cards and I chose to do another of the side folds I had done weeks ago. Using some PP from my Reminisce package and some dark gray CS I cut and scored the card and then added the PP. I notched the top and bottom of the side part and tied some gold twine around it. Using a GKD die set I cut a small stitched frame rectangle out of gold foil and adhered onto main section. From the same set I cut some candle pieces in different scrap papers and added the flames in a different gold foil. Then I die cut the foliage using Sissix dies and glued it strategically at the bottom of the frame and candles. I added some berries and a sentiment (from CTMH) that I had stamped a while ago and not used and to which I added some gold sparkle with a pen.
I am uncertain of how to classify the style as it fits several on the Card Concept list, but to me it is more Shabby, Chic and vintage but could also fit into the Mixed Media as well. In addition it could fit the Freestyle collage. I leave it to you to decide which you believe it fits best. It does look much better in reality than on the photo.
This card is for the Sweet Stampin Challenge this week. To use up some scrap CS I die cut circles of both sparkly and patterned pieces and then die cut one white circle for the sentiment. I edged the white circle with a gold pen. Using a GKD stamp set I stamped the packages, coloured them with both pencils and gelly roll pens and then fussy cut them. I popped them up at the bottom and added a few gems to the heat embossed sentiment piece. Quick and easy to complete.
Double Trouble wants Christmas with a die cut and Global Design was a sketch challenge so I managed to combine them into this one card. PP is from a paper pack by Reminisce. I used a tag shape instead of an oval and added some scrap die cuts to decorate the die cut tag. Added some foil snowflakes and a couple of gold stars along with the ribbon/bow for added interest. I managed to involve the twist with PP and the ribbon. The sentiment was heat embossed and is from a KaiserCraft set I got last year. Tags are definitely not my thing and I’m not sure I like this.
