Metallic Christmas

Just missed the challenge this was intended for. Had to go out earlier and too late on my return. Sad …

l

It is perhaps a bit busy (?) for a CAS card but it is simple card to make and there is white space. I used a new die called winter forest scene by TuttiDesigns and a word die for the sentiment. Sentiment die is from a company called Essentials and I got it last year. I used metallic gold mirri card and added it to a white embossed background piece. I like how it turned out.

Stars and Ornaments

Created for 2 challenges this week … the Modsquad Stenciled background tag or card http://modsquadchallenge.com/stenciled-background-tag-or-card/ and Double D challenges Focus on the Sentiment https://daranddiane.blogspot.com/ . Here is the second card.

Initially I sponged/brushed on the background colour using Distress Oxides. When it was dry I took another of the KaiserCraft Stencils, and again used Nuvo Glimmer paste this time in Blue Topaz. I left it overnight to ensure it dried fully before trying to use it. I had die cut star left from another project so decided to use it here. As well I had the negative in mirror CS left so I cut it down and added it too. The sentiment comes from a PaperWishes set that I’ve had for ages. I stamped it in VersaMark and heat embossed in Pine green then fussy cut around it to add to the smaller star.

Stenciled Sentiment

Created for 2 challenges this week … the Modsquad & Double D, http://modsquadchallenge.com/stenciled-background-tag-or-card/ and Double D challenges Focus on the Sentiment https://daranddiane.blogspot.com/ . I ended up with 2 cards but will do a separate post for the other one.

From one of my paper pads I chose this pink piece and using a stencil from KaiserCraft called Ornaments and some Nuvo Glimmer paste in Plum Spinel I stenciled out the words. The glittery finish doesn’t show in the photo but it has a lot of glitter to it. I added the Creative Expressions die cut dove on top and because I am I couldn’t get the pink piece adhered straight to the card base I ended up with some white showing on the fold side. Hid that with a tiny strip of washi tape. I still like the result but wish the tape wasn’t there.

Up to One Third + Optional Twist An Inlaid Die

Found a new challenge at AAAcards blogspot earlier today and decided to give it a go.

Using a new die from Memory Box called snowflake Marquee I cut the shape in the middle of the card front. I also cut the same thing from a piece of scrap mirror card. I pieced the snowflake spikes back into the card front securing them on the back with a bit of tape. I then took a scrap piece of glitter cs the same pink as the mirror card and added it at the back so that it shows through the small holes. Added a sentiment from a GKD set called Deck the halls to the middle of the snowflake. Its a very simple card, didn’t take much time to create and I like the result.

African Elephant

This is my take on a card done by my stamping friend Angie, combined with something I saw on the front of our recent play program.

I used my Hero Arts Jungle stamp set and dies for this card. It is a fun set with many dies included. Initially using a circle template for the sun I inked up my brush with Distress Oxide fossilized amber and gently got the yellow background. I added a touch of orange in a couple of places. Then using a torn piece of paper as a guide I inked on some brushed corduroy brown to get the look of hills similar to the design on the program. I forgot that the elephant would cover most of that so need to think about my design more when I do another one. After stamping the elephant onto a scrap piece I coloured him with Prisma pencils and gamsol for blending, then I die cut him out. I adhered him flat onto the card front in front of the sun. Added a black strip and a white sentiment strip on top along with some black bling.

Colour Challenge

Another challenge and another card for Christmas.

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/

This is as close as I could get to the colours shown on the blog and it is mostly done by die cutting. I used a neutral card base and found some wine coloured CS for the die cutting. Added the teal piece behind it. Used a coppery coloured ribbon on the bottom and some silver strips from a sticker sheet along with some glittery stars. I went over the sentiment with wink of stella but it needed a bit more sparkle so I added a Sakura jelly roll pen on top.

Stay Wild

Using my new Hero Arts Jungle stamp collection and a few scraps from a previous project this card was created. Its funny how it came about as

I’ve had the jungle striped circles sitting on my desk since before summer as I wanted to use them and couldn’t imagine how. During the time on our boat I had coloured in a few pre stamped images, one of which is this leopard (could be a Cheetah?) and I die cut him out. Yesterday I was tidying up and moving stuff around a bit when one of the circles got caught under the cat. Inspiration and a moment later the layout was done. Added a few additional stamped images from same set and coloured them in. Did the sentiment and here is the result. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Fall Crop

I’m once again following in my stamp buddies footsteps and entering the same challenge she has with this card. I admit to making a small pun with the title as the challenge is to use the word crop for inspiration.

http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/2019/09/challenge-195-crop.html

Using a previously done pumpkin stenciled piece I sized it to fit behind the window die cut using a frame I purchased from Simon Says. I had prepared the 2 fussy cut pumpkins as well and attached them together for dimension. Onto a GKD CS in Charcoal Brown I added a sparkly strip of Washi tape and then adhered the copper panel at an angle on top. Before adhering the copper panel I cropped the corners with a corner punch. I added a twine bow and the sentiment word top and bottom. Sentiment is from GKD Stitched leaves set and came with the matching die. As you can see the word is heat embossed in gold.

Fall Leaves

Decided to follow the lead of my stamping buddy Bonnie and enter into another challenge – Just Add Ink #473. I think this is the first time I’ve entered this challenge.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2019/09/just-add-ink-473choose-two.html

I started by stamping the background piece with various leaves from a GKD set called Stitched leaves. I used versamark ink and heat set with clear powder. I then used Distress Oxides to get some colour. I already had the 2 baskets made a long time ago and not used; as well as a gifted set of autumn leaf stickers. I placed the baskets using dimensionals and added the leaves inside them. I also added a couple of pumpkins as well. Using some metallic gold elasticized twine I tied it at the top ending in a small bow. I had gold embossed the word onto some metallic type card stock and popped it onto top of the twine. The bonus is I quite like this card myself – sometimes I don’t.

Grateful Thanks

I’m not sure I really like this card but had cut the frame and then didn’t use it so decided to try something. I also had a new Tim Holtz pumpkin stencil from a recent sale and wanted to try it out. I stenciled the pumpkins around the frame and added the sentiment and a leaf from the Skeleton leaves GKD set that a friend gave me. Using the scrap piece belonging to the frame I stamped 2 leaves with Versamark ink and gold embossed them. Then I added a bit of dried marigold distress oxide ink around them. Adhered to card base and added a few gems for bling.
